Make the next technology decision with a clear view of the consequences.
When your central team is stretched, a major system decision, an AI opportunity or a growing list of risks can be hard to work through. We bring the senior experience to establish what matters, assess your options and agree a practical way forward.

Does this sound familiar?
For leaders who need direction before committing people, budget or reputation.
Plenty of proposals. No clear basis for a decision.
Competing proposals and technical detail make it hard to see what matters. We translate them into clear business choices, helping leaders prioritise investment, approve worthwhile projects and understand the risks they accept when work is deferred. Your team gains an agreed direction and achievable priorities.
Choose the system with the consequences in view.
A system choice reaches beyond features and price. We assess the impact on payroll, operations, finance, integrations and the people using it, making trade-offs and decisions that are difficult to reverse clear before you commit. Your team gains a shared basis for selection and implementation.
Your Board wants progress on AI. Your team needs a clear path.
We turn that ambition into a practical AI strategy: where to invest, what value to expect and how to deliver it. Your Board gains a clear basis for decisions, while your technology team gets the priorities and governance to move forward confidently.
A lean head office can support a large organisation.
We work with central teams whose responsibilities extend across sites, services and large frontline workforces. The fit is about the capability and capacity you need, rather than employee count.
Plan for Clarity
Technology health checks
Understand how systems, workflows, integrations and operating practices support the organisation. Receive prioritised findings and practical improvement options.
Strategy and roadmaps
Translate business priorities into a staged technology plan, with dependencies, investment needs, delivery capacity and decision points.
Business cases
Compare options, costs, benefits and risks so executives and sponsors can make an informed investment decision.
Governance and risk
Define proportionate oversight, responsibilities and decision-making arrangements that support delivery and day-to-day operation.
Independent solution selection
Shape requirements, assess vendors and demonstrations, and support commercial discussions against operational fit and long-term needs.
AI strategy and opportunity assessment
Choose where AI or conventional automation can create value. Assess data, access, ownership and support needs before selecting a first use case.
Make the implications clear enough to act on.
When leaders are presented with competing technology proposals, they need more than technical detail. Our fractional CIO support translates options into business consequences, helping you decide what to fund, what to defer and which risks to accept. We work alongside your existing technology leaders to strengthen that capability internally.
What that looks like in real work.
Turning technical noise into decisions the Board could make.
The Board faced a long list of technology projects, presented in technical language that made the risks and benefits difficult to assess. Without a clear basis for prioritising, decisions stalled.
Our approach
In an interim CIO engagement, KJM co-founder Martin Adams translated the proposals into business implications and actionable choices. A prioritised roadmap made the value of each investment, and the risk of not proceeding, clear. He also coached the existing IT Manager towards broader executive responsibility.
The Board moved from inertia to approved projects and explicit acceptance of risk where projects were not approved. The organisation gained direction while developing its own technology leadership.
The system is live. Which unmet needs should be addressed next?
An organisation was live and paying its people, but the implementation was not meeting all of its original needs. It needed an independent view of what could be improved and where to focus next.
The review underway
KJM’s review starts with interviews with the people using and supporting the system. We are assessing the concerns in their operational context so recommendations address the customer’s needs.
Review in progress: the recommendations will give the customer a clearer basis for deciding which improvements to pursue. Findings and outcomes are still to come.
What we work towards with you
A shared view of the problem and intended outcome.
Options with clear benefits, costs and the risks of proceeding or not proceeding.
An agreed sequence of priorities, owners and next decisions.
Start with the work that matters.
Scope and deliverables are agreed around your priorities, the evidence available and the people who need to be involved.
Understand
Hear from sponsors, operational teams and IT. Examine the systems and evidence relevant to the decision.
Evaluate
Test the options against business needs, delivery capacity, risk and ongoing ownership.
Recommend
Present a practical recommendation and a staged route forward, with assumptions made explicit.
Independent advice. Clear implications.
We receive no financial incentive for recommending one product over another. We explain trade-offs and consequences so your team can make informed decisions.
Experienced people, supported by the founders.
Senior consultants deliver the work, with founder oversight and hands-on involvement where their skills are needed. We look for efficiencies even when that reduces our billable hours.
