We reduced our billable work to save the client over $7,000.
The client asked our senior consultant to follow an established payroll comparison process involving hundreds of manual steps. Preparing the data took most of the effort, and investigating differences also meant checking for errors introduced during preparation.
Our approach
Automation was not part of the original request. Through project oversight, a founder identified a better approach and used AI to help build Power Queries to prepare the data and flag exceptions. Our senior consultant then used the tool for payroll analysis. We made the improvement because it served the client, even though it reduced KJM’s billable hours.
Over $7,000 saved across 14 validated parallel pay runs, after accounting for billable development time. Less manual handling reduced preparation risk and freed more time to investigate and explain payroll differences.

More than a year into a workforce scheduling transformation, Centre Directors still relied heavily on manually building and adjusting rosters. Matching educators to rooms and maintaining the right staffing ratios required substantial checking.
Our approach
KJM helped bring the program to completion by redesigning room-level structures and skills in UKG Ready, enabling demand-based schedules and embedding approval workflows. Pilot testing, improved dashboards and go-live support helped turn the design into a usable operating model.
